Wednesday September 30th

Today I got up and checked the weather to determine which route I would take due to a storm front. I decided to head east towards Salt Lake and south to Moab Utah. The drive from Wells Nevada to Salt Lake was extremely flat and boring with little scenery.

Today I headed out towards Nevada. I stopped at Malad Gorge for a break and a walk with snuggs. It was pretty neat for a big gash in the ground, I took some pictures and headed down the road.

I went as far as Wells Nevada and set out to find a campsite. Looked at the map and found Angel Lake State Park was not far from Wells, so I gassed up and headed towards Angel Lake campground ( sign on my way out of town said 8 miles ). I soon realized that this 8 mile trek was all uphill and summited at 11,000+ feet, only to find that the campground had closed the weekend before, BUMMER ! Well I came this far, might as well take in some of the scenery. The leaves had really started to turn up here, probably due to the elevation. But all in all it was a nice drive.

Monday september 28th. 2009

Well today I got a late start and didn't leave Olympia until around 1pm. Though I enjoyed the drive down the columbia gorge. I could tell that fall was trying its best to set in by all the leaves on the trees starting to turn color.

My plan was to go as far as Pendelton Oregon, but had a hard time finding a camp spot, so I headed towards La Grande Oregon, in hopes of more options.... Not the case, so I drove to Weiser Idaho where my father and I have caught many catfish in the Snake river, and usually stay at this little "mom & pop " motel, called the Colonial Inn. Got into town around 10pm and sure enough the Colonial Inn was still there. Got a room and called it a night !
